Recital & Dress Rehearsal 2025 Lineups

The map shows Valley Forge Middle School. Everyone will enter the venue from Valley Forge Road then W Walker Road most likely. The purple line with the arrow on the end is the route you will walk when entering the school from the parking lot. Once arriving through the main entrance doors, turn left and you will see the auditorium. Parking is available in the lots near the building. Anywhere you can find parking, there should be plenty.
Dress Rehearsal Schedule Thursday, May 29, 2025
Location: Valley Forge Middle School (105 W Walker Rd, Wayne, PA 19087)
What is Dress Rehearsal? Dress rehearsal takes place at the recital auditorium so dancers can practice their recital dances on the stage that they will be performing on. It is extremely important that all students be at dress rehearsal so they understand spacing, use of the stage, they get to practice in their costume/hair/makeup, etc. The rehearsal schedule has approximate times that each dance will be running assuming we stay on schedule.
When: Dress Rehearsal runs from 4:30PM to around 9:30PM (not everyone stays the whole time, it depends on your rehearsal call time(s)). Normally each dance is allotted a 5-10 minute time slot. Find schedule below.
Excusal from Mandatory Dress Rehearsal: The following is not recommended because having the kids practice on stage is extremely important to the efficiency of the show, but anyone who absolutely must be excused from mandatory dress rehearsal (due to other prior made commitment) must notify the studio no later than March 1, 2025 through email. Do not tell us the week before that your child cannot attend dress rehearsal (sickness/injury is an exception of course).
Finale, Arrival Time, What to Wear: Every dancer ages 3-18 must be present for finale rehearsal which is scheduled for 6pm-6:30pm. Please arrive 20 minutes before your first scheduled time slot ready to go in recital costume, hair, and makeup in case we are running ahead of schedule.
Be On Time & Ready: Please also allot for traffic due to the time of day to make sure you arrive on time. We have a lot of dances to run and we cannot wait for people running late. If people are in more than one number obviously they may have to change costumes but for everyone’s very first scheduled number, especially, be ready in costume and makeup 20 minutes prior to your scheduled time.
Dressing Rooms: All girls ages 3-10 can put their stuff in the big dressing room called the ‘Audion’ which you will be shown upon arrival. All girls ages 11-18 can put their stuff in the classroom closer to stage, classroom 112. All boys ages 3-18 will put their stuff in a separate area which you will be shown upon arrival.
When to Leave & What to Bring: Once you are finished running all of your dances including finale, you are permitted to leave dress rehearsal. If you are someone who will be at the entire dress rehearsal or will be there for a few hours, we recommend packing food and lots of water, something to do while you are waiting, etc.
No Food/Drink Inside Theatre: There is absolutely no drinking or eating inside the theatre. You can bring food and drink into the dressing rooms, but please be mindful of what food and drink you bring as we do not want to make a mess of the venue. There should be no trash left on the floor either.
Parent Responsibility: At dress rehearsal, parents are responsible for their children at all times in the dressing rooms, as we do not have dressing room monitors during dress rehearsal, only at recitals. We have teachers that will be helping to bring dancers from dressing room to stage and vice versa during both dress rehearsal and recital.
Do & Don’t: For dancers who have to wear tights, they should wear a different pair of tights to dress rehearsal than they will wear at recitals, just in case of any rips. If your dancer is of age and has to wear false eyelashes for recital, it is not necessary that they wear them for dress rehearsal but we highly recommend that they do, so they can practice with them on. If your dancer does not wear them to dress rehearsal, just make sure to do a practice run with your child if they have never worn false eyelashes before. All hair/costume/makeup details are on parent portal under ‘info’>’bulletin board.’

Recital Schedule for May 30, 2025 6pm-8pm/8:15pm (15min intermission)
Location: Valley Forge Middle School (105 W Walker Rd, Wayne, PA 19087)
All dancers arrive to show no later than 5pm. The doors to the auditorium will open at 5:30pm that day for people to start taking their seats.
No one should be sitting in the auditorium before 5:30pm as we have videographers/photographers setting up, and other things being done inside the theater before the shows start. Rows A & B are blocked off, no one is permitted to sit there. Row A is completely blocked off, and Row B is reserved for Emily’s family only.
Dressing Rooms: Recital dressing rooms are the same as dress rehearsal. All girls ages 3-10 will put their stuff in the big dressing room (Audion), and all girls ages 11-18 will put their stuff in the classroom closer to stage (classroom 112). All boys ages 3-18 will put their stuff in a separate divided hallway area. Bathrooms are also very close by to the dressing rooms for dancers to use. Everyone should set up their bags, costumes, accessories, etc. in their assigned dressing room areas.
There will be two dressing room monitors in the girls’ dressing room for ages 3-10 and one dressing room monitor in the girls’ dressing room ages 11-18 keeping the kids occupied and keeping track of sign ins and sign outs of the dressing room. There will be one hallway monitor outside of the boys changing area that will keep track of the boys. Boys are to change in their designated area behind a big curtain divider, and once they are done changing, they are expected to come out into the hallway backstage and wait with the monitor. Ages 5-18 are to stay in their dressing room for the entire duration of the show (we are assuming the show will be about 2 hours-2hr15min in length with a 15 minute intermission, although our shows usually run faster than we originally predict).
Dressing Room Check Out Rules: Keeping the kids in their dressing room helps us to stay organized and manage where the children are at all times. Children ages 3-4 can be checked out of their dressing room by their parent/guardian and sit on laps once they are finished both of their class dances if you choose to do so, but you must sign them out on paper. Speak with dressing room monitors about checking your child out of the dressing room. If you choose to check your 3-4 year old out of the dressing room, please remember everyone is in the finale #33 (ages 3-6 come out at the very end) so 3-4 year olds should be brought back to the dressing room before #28 in the show. Make sure to tell the dressing room monitor when you check them back into the dressing room so they are aware.
Helping Your Dancer in Dressing Room: For dancers ages 11+, parents should watch the full show, as dancers should not need their parents helping them in the dressing room at this age. They need to take responsibility for their costumes, makeup, accessories, etc. We really recommend ages 9+ to be on their own but if you feel your child will need help you can go to the dressing room. For dancers ages 3-8, parents should go to the dressing room 4 numbers before your child’s dance to make sure they are in costume (they should already come to the show with full face of makeup and hair done for whatever their first dance is). Once you ensure they are dressed to go on stage you can go back and sit in your seat in the audience.
When Are Students Called To Stage? We have helpers that will be gathering the kids from the dressing rooms 2 numbers before they go onstage and then bringing them to the stage, back to dressing room, etc.
Therefore, we have helpers that will be specifically monitoring the dressing room and helpers that will be taking the kids to and from stage.
Dressing Room Monitor Responsibility: It is not the dressing room monitor’s responsibility to get your kids ready for their dances, so that is the only time that you are responsible for your child in the dressing room, depending on the child’s age.
No Parents Backstage: ERDC staff and Miss Emily will be in the left and right wings backstage. Parents are not to be backstage, as there is limited space, there will be dancers and other staff constantly coming in and out of there, we will be lining up dancers, etc. Backstage is the place for us to work with your children and get them ready to go onstage, so the less distractions and chaos, the better. Unless there is some kind of emergency, backstage is for staff and dancers only.
No Food/Drink Inside Theatre: There is absolutely no drinking or eating inside the theatre. You can bring food and drink into the dressing rooms, but again, please be mindful of what food and drink you bring as we do not want to make a mess of the venue. There should be no trash left on the floor either.
What Do Students Wear for Finale? For finale, all students wear the last costume they danced in (no tap or pointe shoes). The recital t-shirt that all students receive is just a souvenir, and is not worn during finale.
What Happens After Finale? At the end of the finale, we will acknowledge our high school seniors, staff, assistants, and teachers, and then we will dismiss ages 3-4, then ages 5-6, then ages 7-9, then ages 10-12 from the stage into the audience, so parents can get their children and then you can go to the dressing room to collect your things. Ages 13+ can go right to the dressing rooms.
Tips/Tricks: For dancers who are in more than one dance and have a number of quick changes, it is a good idea to layer pairs of tights accordingly. This means, dancers should wear tights on top of each other so they are easier to get on and off. Girls of age, should wear appropriate dance bra with clear shoulder and back straps or nude bodysuit with clear straps and high cut seamless nude underwear with costumes at all times. It is also a good idea to bring a small towel or paper towels for dancers who are in a lot of numbers and will be sweating a lot, as costumes can be difficult to get on quickly when sweaty.
