ERDC DANCE COMPANIES
**The following info applies to our 2026-27 Season**
JUNIOR COMPANY AGES 8-11
Our Junior Dance Company is a committed group of dancers who perform at events, such as parades, showcases, dance competitions, nursing homes, etc. They perform at least 5 times a year and attend at least 1 dance masterclass/workshop convention. Junior Company members perform group pieces in the styles of jazz and lyrical. Our dance company season runs from September-May.
Tryouts are June 2, 2026 and results will be out by June 6, 2026. There is a $12/dancer audition fee. Current dance company members also attend auditions and pay audition fee.
Requirements to be apart of the company:
-Excellent attendance for regular recital classes and all company rehearsals (see bottom of this page for more attendance requirement details)
-During our regular recital season, dancer must take ballet class twice a week, jazz once a week, and stretch/technique/turns/leaps class once a week.
-Must purchase our dance company jacket for specific company season so everyone has same uniform for events.
-Must be enrolled in our Mandatory Junior Dance Company Intensive ages 8-11 in August. Our 3 hour Choreography Day is included in summer camp.
Cost:
-Junior Dance Company ages 8-11: $1400 for the season
The $1400 is the budget for each student, which includes:
-1hr10min group rehearsal 3 Fridays per month (Sep-May)
-Competition fees (2 competitions a season) and entry costs for 2 group competition dances at each competition
-1 masterclass/workshop convention
-Costs to be in parades, showcases, and other noncompetitive events
-Costumes, tights, hairpieces, earrings for these performances

*NEW* INTERMEDIATE LYRICAL/CONTEMPORARY COMPANY AGES 11-18

Intermediate Company members perform group pieces in the styles of lyrical and contemporary. Our dance company season runs from September-May.

The $1550 is the budget for each student, which includes:
-August choreography day to start working on group pieces (2 hours)
-1hr20min group rehearsal 2 Fridays per month (Sep-May)
-Competition fees (2 competitions a season) and entry costs for 2 group competition dances at each competition
-1 masterclass/workshop convention
-Costs to be in parades, showcases, and other noncompetitive events
-Costumes, tights, hairpieces, earrings for these performances

SENIOR COMPANY AGES 13+
Our Senior Dance Company is a committed group of dancers who perform at events, such as parades, showcases, dance competitions, nursing homes, etc. They perform at least 8 times a year and attend at least 1 dance masterclass/workshop convention. Senior Company members perform group pieces in the styles of jazz, lyrical, and contemporary. Our dance company season runs from September-May.
Tryouts are June 2, 2026 and results will be out by June 6, 2026. There is a $12/dancer audition fee.
**Current dance company members do not have to attend summer tryouts, rather they are to submit a video of themselves performing their own choreography. They may choose any dance style, and the video must be 45 seconds-1 minute. Video must be submitted no later than June 3, 2026.**

-Must have at least 3 years of dance experience prior to trying out
-During our regular recital season, dancer must take ballet class twice a week, stretch/technique/turns/leaps class once a week, jazz once a week, and lyrical and/or contemporary once a week.
-Must have or be close to a split and straddle
-Must be able to do a clean double pirouette
-Must be able to do a calypso leap, saut de chat leap, grande jete, illusion
-Must purchase our dance company jacket for specific company season so everyone has same uniform for events.
-Must be enrolled in the full duration (both weeks) of our Summer 11am-6pm Technique & Style Intensive ages 13-18 in August
-Must attend the full duration of our August choreography day (6hours)
Cost:
-Senior Dance Company ages 13+: $1700 for the season
The $1700 is the budget for each student, which includes:
-August choreography day to start working on group pieces (6 hours)
-2 hour group rehearsals every other Friday
-Competition fees (2 competitions a season) and entry costs for 2 group competition dances at each competition
-at least 1 masterclass/workshop convention
-Costs to be in parades, showcases, and other noncompetitive events
-Costumes, tights, hairpieces, and earrings for these performances

Rehearsals:
Practice every other Friday (Sep-May)
-Senior Company ages 13+: Fridays 5:40-7:40PM
All company practices are mandatory.
Excessive absences in regular required classes, such as ballet, jazz, stretch/tech/turns/leaps, lyrical, or contemporary will lead to removal from any of our Dance Companies, as training the required amount of hours is imperative to team growth. Students can only miss 2 company rehearsals per season for sickness. If students have to miss any company rehearsals, regardless of the reason, they must make up every missed rehearsal with a separately scheduled private lesson and pay the additional cost of the private lesson with injury being an exception in severe cases that prevent the dancer from performing with the team for the remainder of the the Dance Company Season (Private Lesson Rates: $43/30min or $85/hr with Miss Emily | $38/30min or $75/hr with Miss Kelley | $36/30min or $72/hr with Miss Sophia). The length of the private lesson needed is at the discretion of the teacher. In the event that a student absolutely must miss a company rehearsal for something other than sickness, as previously mentioned, they must schedule a private lesson to make up the missed rehearsal. If they cannot do such, they will not be permitted to participate in the upcoming performance that they are preparing for at that time (there will be no refund for rehearsals that the dancer will not be needed at, as the teacher will have to reblock the dances during company rehearsal time) or they may be removed from the Dance Company completely if necessary. This is for the sake of the entire group.
Solos, duos, and trios at competition are not included in the above pricing, so if students are selected to do such, this must be approved by parent/guardian prior to entering the performance into a competition.
